Pain is a common health concern affecting women across all stages of life. However, research has shown that women's pain is often under-recognised, underestimated, and undertreated, which can contribute to delays in diagnosis, reduced access to appropriate care, and prolonged suffering.
Women may experience pain related to a wide range of biological, hormonal, musculoskeletal, neurological, autoimmune, and reproductive health conditions. Hormonal fluctuations throughout life, including menstruation, pregnancy, the postpartum period, perimenopause, and menopause, can also influence pain sensitivity, symptom severity, physical function, sleep, mood, and overall wellbeing.

For many women, particularly during perimenopause and menopause, pain symptoms may emerge, worsen, or become more difficult to manage. Joint and muscle pain, headaches, widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, and reduced physical function are common concerns that can significantly impact quality of life. Unfortunately, these symptoms are sometimes dismissed as a normal part of ageing or hormonal change, resulting in delays in assessment and treatment.
At Neurovia, we recognise that women's pain is real, complex, and deserving of thorough assessment and evidence-based management. We take the time to understand each individual's unique circumstances, identify the factors contributing to their symptoms, and develop personalised treatment plans tailored to their goals and needs.
Our approach focuses on helping women better understand their pain, improve physical function, restore confidence in movement, and return to meaningful activities. Treatment may include pain education, exercise therapy, movement retraining, pacing strategies, fatigue management, lifestyle advice, and support to develop effective long-term self-management skills.
We commonly assist women experiencing pain associated with:
Perimenopause and menopause
Pregnancy and the postnatal period
Endometriosis and adenomyosis
Persistent pelvic pain
Fibromyalgia and widespread pain
Autoimmune and rheumatological conditions
Neurological conditions
Headaches and migraine
Persistent musculoskeletal pain
Complex and chronic pain conditions
Our goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that helps women feel heard, understood, and supported while improving their physical function, wellbeing, and quality of life.
