Pain in Men

Pain is a common health concern affecting men of all ages and backgrounds. Whether related to injury, illness, surgery, neurological conditions, chronic health conditions, work demands, or everyday activities, pain can have a significant impact on physical function, mental wellbeing, relationships, work, recreation, and overall quality of life.

Despite experiencing pain at similar rates to many other populations, men are often less likely to seek help early and may delay accessing treatment until symptoms become severe or begin to significantly interfere with daily life. Cultural expectations, stigma surrounding pain and vulnerability, busy work and family commitments, and a desire to "push through" symptoms can all contribute to delays in assessment and treatment.

Unfortunately, delaying treatment may increase the risk of reduced physical function, prolonged recovery, ongoing disability, and in some cases, the development of persistent or chronic pain. Early assessment and appropriate management can play an important role in supporting recovery, restoring function, and preventing pain from having a long-term impact on health and wellbeing.

At Neurovia, we understand that pain is complex and that every individual's experience is unique.

We take the time to conduct thorough assessments to identify the factors contributing to pain and develop personalised treatment plans tailored to each person's goals, lifestyle, and circumstances.

Our approach focuses on helping men better understand their pain, improve physical function, restore confidence in movement, and return to the activities that matter most to them. Treatment may include pain education, exercise therapy, movement retraining, strength and conditioning, pacing strategies, rehabilitation planning, and support to develop effective long-term self-management skills.

We commonly assist men experiencing pain associated with:

  • Acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions

  • Sports and recreational injuries

  • Work-related injuries

  • Back and neck pain

  • Neurological conditions

  • Autoimmune and rheumatological conditions

  • Post-operative recovery

  • Persistent pain following injury

  • Headaches and migraine

  • Complex and chronic pain conditions

Our goal is to provide evidence-based care that helps men take control of their pain, maximise physical function, and maintain long-term health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
